It's been around for over 20 years: Pro Velo Switzerland's “Bike to Work” campaign motivates employees throughout the country to get on their bikes in May and June and actively organize their commute to work. It all began in 2005 as a pilot project with a few Migros companies and has since developed into the largest health and cycling promotion campaign in Switzerland. From 2006, the project was opened up to all companies and reached record numbers and real milestones last year:
- Participants: Over 109,000 employees from all over Switzerland took part.
- Companies: 3,840 companies registered their teams - a new record.
- Total distance: Together, the participants covered over 27 million kilometers,
These figures underline the steady growth and increasing popularity of the campaign - after all, the participants virtually circumnavigated the globe almost 700 times in 2024.
You can register for this year's campaign online; the registration portal is open until the end of April for the challenges in May and May/June and until the end of May for the challenge in June. Participants' journeys and distances will be tracked automatically by the Bike-to-Work app - super easy for all participants and companies.
They were a motivation for participants right from the start: the prizes provided by partners such as CUORE. Everyone who uses their bike on at least 50% of the working days is automatically entered into the prize draw - and can win prizes such as the Gold X1 Bib Short from CUORE and many other prizes with a total value of over CHF 130,000. The playful competitive character is also reinforced by team prizes - and provides additional motivation!
